2022 Annual Conference

GUIDELINES FOR PROPOSAL SUBMISSION

All proposals submitted to be presented at the TN-CEC Annual Conference will be considered and evaluated following a blind peer-reviewed process.

General Proposal Submission Guidelines

  • Read instructions entirely. 
  • Develop the proposal information and carefully review it prior to beginning the Proposal Outline form.
  • Follow the directions and complete all required fields.
  • Verify the proposal guidelines using the proposal checklist listed below prior to submission

Proposal Submission Instructions

Please review all guidelines and information about submitting a proposal prior to completing the Proposal Outline form. We suggest developing a description of your proposal before starting the online form. All proposals must meet the criteria outlined in this section in order to be considered. 

SECTION 1 - Presenters 

To encourage broad program participation, you may submit proposals for up to TWO presentations (Lead presenter, co-presenters, etc.). 

  1. Number of Presenters Including Lead Presenter
    There is no limit to the number of presenters per session. Information for all presenters must be submitted under the Co-Presenter’s Information section of the Conference Proposal. 
  2. Contact information
    The following information is required for the presenter and co-presenter(s): 
    Name, title, email address, phone number, employer

It is the responsibility of the presenters to notify TN-CEC of any changes to the contact information provided. This can be done by editing the Proposal Outline form prior to the submission deadline or sending an email to Cindy Lang at clang@cn.edu  if the deadline has passed.

SECTION 2- Proposal Information

  1. Title of Presentation. The title of the presentation should be between 10 and 15 words (maximum of 90 characters).
  2. Abstract of Presentation. The abstract of the presentation should be a brief summary of the presentation relating to the main and subsequent topic areas of. The abstract should be no less than 40 words and no more than 50 words (maximum of 300 characters).
  3. Session Description. The session description should be a more detailed outline of what you will cover in the presentation. This description should include: (a) rationale for the presentation; (b) its usefulness to practitioners; (c) relevance to educators, students, and families; (d) participant outcomes; and (e) evidence of effectiveness of the topic. The session description should be no less than 200 words and no less than 250 words (maximum of 1,500 words).
  4. Participant Outcomes. Participant outcomes should be provided with the intended audience in mind. These outcomes should include knowledge and skills in which the presenter(s) want the participants to gain during the presentation. There should be no less than two and no more than four participant outcomes for each presentation.
  5. Format of Presentation. The options for the format of the presentation include: (a) lecture; (b) demonstration; (c) poster; (d) hands-on workshop; (e) make-and-take workshop; and (f) panel. One presentation format must be selected on the Conference Proposal Outline. You will also need to select if you would be willing to change the format of your presentation if requested to do so. 

SECTION 3 - Presentation Information

  1. Target Audience. The options for the target audience of the presentation include: (1) teacher: early childhood; (2) teacher: elementary; (3) teacher: secondary; (4) teacher: post-secondary; (5) administrators; (6) related service providers; (7) higher education; and (8) families/guardians. You are able to select all applicable target audiences to your presentation. 
  2. Level of Audience on the Topic. The options for the level of audience for the presentation include: (1) beginning; (2) intermediate; and (3) advanced. One audience level must be selected on the Conference Proposal Outline. 
  3. Primary Presentation Topic. The options for the presentation topic include: (1) AAC; (2) academic skills; (3) assessment; (4) assistive technology; (5) behavioral skills; (6) career development; (7) curriculum modifications; (8) collaborative strategies; (9) daily living skills; (10) differentiated instruction; (11) functional living skills; (12) gifted education; (13) IEP/IFSP; (14) inclusion; (15) literacy; (16) paraeducators; (17) parent involvement; (18) PBIS; (19) RTI; (20) school administration; (21) school safety; (22) supervision; (23) teacher education; and (24) transition to adult life. One presentation topic needs to be selected as the primary presentation topic for the conference.

SECTION 4 - Review and Submit

Be sure that the Conference Proposal Outline is completed in its entirety. Additionally, confirm that your responses meet all of the requirements outlined above. You will select “Submit” when your proposal is complete. 

 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • Audiovisual equipment. TN-CEC will provide the following standard equipment in each presentation room: (a) projection system used for computer and video display, (b) one screen, (c) wired or wireless Internet connection. 
  • Computer equipment. TN-CEC does not provide computer equipment or adaptors for any presentations.
  • The Conference Program. The program will contain your session title and abstract as edited by TN-CEC staff. We request that you please verify the spelling of names.

Acceptance notifications will be sent by email by Friday, September 9.
